Sporting Success at Tweedmouth West
7th July 2014
Mrs Rutherford received this letter in late June.
Congratulations to Tweedmouth West pupils who participated at the Northumberland School Games over the past two days.
I hope they all enjoyed the experience.
I am always proud when I get excellent feed back from event organisers at how well North Northumberland Schools compete, showing good sportsmanship, effort and attitude, upholding "The Spirit of the Games Values".
Please pass my praise to all the young people who have competed in the whole programme as well as your competitors from the past two days and your medal winners. Please celebrated their success in your school. They have done your school, your staff and most importantly themselves proud.
Can I also congratulate your school in embracing the whole PE & School Sport concept. I am passionate about how sport participation at all levels, can have a huge impact on whole school, but more importantly individual performance in all aspects.
I know I'm bias but the work Julie does is, in my opinion, outstanding. I often use the good practice your school demonstrates as an example to other schools both locally, regionally and nationally to try to inspire other schools to adopt a similar approaches.
The feedback that I receive from the external sport deliverers in your school is always positive, not just because of the sporting performance of your pupils but also because of their enthusiasm, effort, willingness to learn, determination to improve and development of teamwork.
The medal success at the Northumberland School Games is only the icing on the cake. There are many other individual successes in your school that do not earn medals but are equally important to each individual pupil. This "behind the scenes" work is probably more important than winning medals.
Keep up the good work and if there is any way I can continue to help please just ask.
