Newsletter - Re-opening details

25th February 2021

Dear parents/carers,

We are delighted that the children will be coming back into school on Monday March 8th.

I would like to share with you our plans for the return:-

  1. Dropping off and picking up children

We will continue to stagger the start and end times for the classes, to make sure there are not too many people on the street at the start and end of the day :-

Reception – drop off between 9.00 and 9.15, pick up at 3.15 at the main gate (there will be a sign on the gate to help you)

Year 1 – drop off between 8.45 – 9.00, pick up at 3.00 at the main gate

Year 2 – drop off between 9.00 – 9.15, pick up at 3.15 at the front door

Year 3 – drop off between 8.45 – 9.00, pick up at 3.00 at the car park gate

Year 4 – drop off between 9.00 – 9.15, pick up at 3.15 at the car park gate

Please make sure only one adult picks up/drops off children, and that all adults wear a face covering.

  1. Class ‘Bubbles’

We will be keeping the children in class ‘bubbles’, keeping them apart from each other as much as possible. Young children cannot maintain social distancing, so for us, the safest thing is to make sure they have contact with the fewest number of people possible.

This means the children will stay in their class groups whenever possible, and we will ensure frequent handwashing/cleaning of surfaces and equipment throughout the day.

  1. Staff testing

All staff are taking a Lateral Flow Test twice a week. This means we can break any chain of transmission immediately.

  1. Lunchtime

The children will be eating in their classrooms, as we cannot safely get the children to and from the hall to have lunch. We will continue with the planned menu that was sent out in December, it is a two week rolling menu and we will return on week 1. Any questions regarding lunches should be emailed to Mrs Hodgson admin@tweedmouthwest.northumberland.sch.uk

  1. The Curriculum

We have continued to follow the curriculum during lockdown with our work on Seesaw. When the children are back in school, and settled into the daily routine, we will assess their learning needs.

  1. Breakfast Club

We will be starting up Breakfast Club from Monday March 8th. This will be taking place in the hall, where we can maintain social distancing between ‘bubbles’.

  1. Uniform

The children will be wearing their school uniform as usual.

We need to keep the school well ventilated, and so warmer clothes are advised. If you prefer, a pair of plain, dark joggers can be worn each day with the school jumper/hoodie. We understand that your child may have grown out of their school shoes, and you may have difficulty replacing them. Up until Easter, any sensible shoes are acceptable (laces only if your child can tie them themselves)

  1. What do children need to bring with them?

We will be outside as much as possible, as this is the safest, healthiest place to be. The children need appropriate clothing for this. Please make sure they have a warm coat and gloves.

All children – PE kit (which will stay in school), water bottle, reading folder

Field Day – Year 1 Tuesday, Reception, Year 2, 3 & 4 Friday. Please send waterproofs and wellies on these days.

Reception – Please have a full change of clothes in a carrier bag for your child (including underwear and socks)

We are in need of spare underwear and socks for Reception, so any donations would be gratefully received!

As always, please keep us informed of any positive tests within the family, and any self isolation that needs to happen.

Please do not send children to school if they have any symptoms or are unwell.

We look forward to seeing you all on March 8th!

Mrs Robertson
