Pupils from Y4 and 3 have participated in a parking initiative initiated by Northumbria Police and the Fire Service.
We have been concerned about the congestion outside school at the end of the school day for a long time. Some parents have been parking illegally and this is very dangerous.
Children were asked to design and make parking tickets. Seven children were awarded prizes kindly donated by Asda and the Brown Bear.
These children were then asked to hand out parking tickets alongside police officers, to people who had parked illegally at the end of the school day.
Although the offending parents had their numbers taken, they will not face a fine unless they repeat the offence.
We are grateful to PC Ashley Rutherford and her team, to the local fire brigade and to Tweedale press for the use of their photographs.
