The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

Following the Olympic Games tradition The School Games Mark has three levels , Bronze: Silver: and Gold

Since 2012 Tweedmouth West have consistently achieved Gold Awards for their PE and School Sport provision.

In 2017 a new category of this award was developed and schools who had consistently achieved the Gold Award invited to apply. The Platinum Award.

The process involved the school submitting an application that had to be backed by substantiating evidence as to how they develop successful pathways in to community sport for their pupils to continue their sporting involvement.

Only 104 of these Platinum Awards were presented throughout England.

Only two were awarded in Northumberland

And both of these were Berwick Schools
