Dear Parents/Carers,

We are now almost at the end of week 3 of this half term. I know things are very tough, and normal life seems like a distant memory. But, the rollout of the vaccination fills me with hope. The team in Berwick who are carrying out the vaccinations are doing it brilliantly, and the North East are leading the way in getting huge numbers of people protected.

But, we’re not out of the woods yet. Infection numbers have risen significantly in Berwick, and we all need to do everything we can to keep ourselves and our community safe.

I must remind all our families who have children in school – please only send them into school when you have no other alternative. Home is the safest place for your children at the moment, so please think very carefully about the days that they are in school. So, if you are a critical worker and you have a day off during the week, your child should be at home with you. We update our registers weekly in accordance with your work patterns. The safety of our staff and your children is our top priority.

From next week, Lateral Flow Testing is being introduced into Primary schools. This means that the staff at Tweedmouth West will be tested regularly, and by identifying any asymptomatic people, we will be able to break the chain of transmission. If a member of staff has a positive result, this may lead to the closure of a bubble, and we will of course, keep you informed.

I would like to say a huge thankyou to all who are carrying out the vaccination programme here in Berwick. They are doing a fantastic job, and giving us all hope for the future.

Take care everyone, and keep safe.

We are in this together.

Mrs Robertson
