Tweed Tigers and Breakfast Club

Tweedmouth West provides quality childcare before and after school to support our families.

Children from Tweedmouth West and Cubs and Kits @ Berwick Family Hub (https://www.familyhubsnorthumberland.co.uk/north-locality )  can attend Breakfast Club any morning during term time. The staff provide a warm welcome, a delicious range of breakfasts and time to settle into the day. There is a nurturing environment and children can play with their friends, catch up on reading or homework or just sit and have a chat with our lovely staff.

Breakfast Club - 8.00 am - drop off anytime, no need to book. £2. Free to children entitled to 'Targeted' Free School Meals.

Tweed Tigers - 3.15 until 6.00 pm - must be booked in advance via the School Office / Parentmail app  01289 306151

Tweed Tigers is run by a team of Teaching Assistants who are very familiar to the children, with wonderful relationships, time to play and talk and do crafts with lots of other children. Children from Cubs and Kits can also join us if they are joining our Reception - a great opportunity to become familiar with our setting and for siblings to get cared for together until parents finish work.

Help with Wraparound Care Costs

Tax-free childcare https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare most families will be entitled to this.  Families cam claim up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).

Also From September 2026 there will be a change to free school meals.  There will now be two types of 'benefit related free school meals'

  • Targeted Free School Meals – this is the same as 'benefit related free school meals' currently in place.  If you are entitled to Targeted Free School Meals your child will receive, a free meal, free breakfast club, free sports clubs as well as subsidised trips and milk etc.
  • Expanded Free School Meals – this is a new entitlement for all families in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household income.  If you are entitle to Expanded Free School Meals your child will receive a free meal only.

If you think you may be entitled to either type of Free School Meals please apply as soon as possible via NCC Free School Meals Applications

Currently families in receipt of Universal Credit are able to claim back up to 75% of their wraparound childcare costs.  To do this you must inform the school office who will provide a statement which can be used to reclaimed your costs.
